This is the body of work from my first solo show. I aimed to show my love for typography, color, and human emotion, executed using paper, aerosol, and nasty acrylics, nearly the only mediums I am familiar with. Creating these was a blast! "flesh" 18" x 24" Aerosol on archival paper. This is a portrait of James Barrett Colvin, a hunky dude from a small danish village. "Bear" is consistently smiling and simultaneously a vicious frontman for a heavy band. I wanted to capture a vision of his dynamic personality, and create contrast between human emotion and geometric, or robotic, shapes. Get one! "model" 18" x 24" Aerosol on archival paper. This is a portrait of Ali Shaheed Muhammed, DJ of A Tribe Called Quest. Shaheed and the Tribe's music have been an inspiration for years of skating, music and art. Get one! "Bounce" Each of the three are 48" x 48" Aerosol on archival paper. This is a self portrait. I wanted to capture the moment of being spotted when painting graffiti. The moment of shock, and immediate impulse to "bounce." "vision" Each of the four are 24" x 24" Paper and ink on wood. This portrait of an anonymous female represents my intrigue of the unknown. The power of technology communicating in controlling tones (face) as we humans struggle to stay human (rips). "vision" Each of the four are 24" x 24" Paper and ink on wood. This portrait same portrait as above, only with more torture. "freedom" 50" x 36" Mixed media on wood. "Peel This Flesh Away and Make New" 24" x 18" acrylic on archival paper. My 5.0 turns on blast and at last I outrun the punks and drop the top down, cruise into the sunset, skippin' town, wind in my hair, twilight time of night, driving, soaring, dream girl to my right. In the heat of the night, visions come to life, manifest destiny in hypercoclor sight. Rollin. down the street lights flash to the beat. It feels so right in the heat of the night. Neon streaks send dreams through my spine, visions in my mind, the Bill and Ted's Adventure kind.
